Peter PARHAM

Professional Activities:

I am interested in increasing our understanding of Quaternary sea-level oscillations and the resulting sedimentary record, the correlation of geomorphic features such as paleo-shorelines with coeval riverine, estuarine, and marine strata, age dating of depositional sequences and their assignment to specific marine isotope stages, the evolution of coastal landscapes, past climate regimes as indicated by the sedimentary record, reconstruction of paleoenvironments , and investigating vertical crustal movements that influence relative sea-level records. This type of research contributes to our understanding of how the present coastal system developed, allows us to make predictions about how it is likely to evolve in the future, and provides a baseline for policy development and adaptation in response to climate and sea-level change.
