Novel Approaches To Ground Penetrating Radar: Applications In Border Security

To date, examining imported produce and both storm and tsunami deposits uses destructive, time- and resource-heavy techniques. This project applies high-frequency ground-penetrating radar (HFGPR) to develop a tool for identifying, characterising and targeting i) palaeo-storm and tsunami event deposits along the coastlines of India and Vietnam; and ii) hidden contraband smuggled through Singapore Customs. HFGPR offers a unique tool to address each of these issues. The outcomes of this project have ramifications extending into many branches of coastal hazard evaluation and border security protection. We imagine that this methodology may be adopted globally.
