About the Event

In May 2018, a strong episode of seismicity started in Mayotte (Comoros archipelago), which was widely felt by the inhabitants of the island, in an area that was considered to be moderately active seismically. A year later, a new volcanic structure of 800m high was discovered 50km east of Mayotte during a scientific campaign. We analyzed the different types of seismicity to get clues about the mechanisms of the Mayotte volcanic system and its evolution.;

Lise Retailleau

Lise Retailleau is a researcher of IPGP at the Observatory of Piton de la Fournaise (OVPF). She studies the seismic signals associated with volcanism. She is also interested in the analysis of ambient seismic noise and its sources.
