Project Overview

A long-standing goal of volcanology is to forecast eruptions as accurately as possible. monitoring data allows operational short-term forecasts for getting people of harm's way, but only through understanding how the inner parts of volcanoes work can we expect to move towards science-based long- and short-term forecasts. This project aims to improve the forecasts at open-vent volcanoes in southeast Asia using a holistic approach that integrates geochemical and mineralogical data of the erupted rocks, numerical modelling and physical models of volcanic systems, new geophysical monitoring datasets, and probablistic eriptiun models.
